This CD for the Latin Rhythms Band was recorded at Sound Cell in Huntsville AL and at LocoSound Studios Charlotte NC where it was fully produced and mastered by my brother Elddy Trevino. The artwork is original by Ms. Caroline Wang, Regional artist in the Southeast based out of Huntsville AL. The concept is the band playing on a beach with an image of Cuba in the background and the band members are on break or just missing with a fallen rose laying over the trumpet.....Lost Paradise
Ballad for Maliya was written the day after my grand daughter Maliya Trevino was born on January 6 2004
Dia De Vino y Rosas is actually Days of Wine and Roses (Henry Mancini) and my melancholic trumpet playing on this song was inspired after seeing the movie Days of Wine and Roses and the effects of alcoholism had on a loving couple
This lovely song Felicidad was written by my good friend and band member flautist - vocalist Sharla Grable
For Hayden was written after my dear pomeranian young dog Ms Hayden had surgery on her hip and she sat by me on the couch as I slaved away at the piano crafting this song. When the song was complete I had no name for this song. I stared at my beautiful dog looking at me with those sad eyes in her cast and decided on For Hayden!
I wrote this song for my salsa band Latin Rhythms after playing on a simple riff of guajira on the piano
One of the first songs I learned on the trumpet was the version by Miles Davis with a harmon mute playing It Never Entered My Mind and decided to include this on the Latin Rhythms CD
My lead vocalist and trombonists Ramon Rivera were brainstorming over a period of time with horn lines and lyrics for this trademark song for our band Latin Rhythms
This song Super Samba was the idea of lead guitarist Mr. George West as a grand fanfare intro. I helped craft the horn lines for us.
After hearing this song played by famed guitarist George Benson and singing it I decided to write my own lyrics for this song and used the theme of life in Cuba before the fall to communism and inspired by the documentary of Buena Vista Social Club
A classic mariachi song we incorporated into our gigs and decided to include in this in our CD Lost Paradise
I wrote the lyrics of this song Que Hay Bueno while sitting in a boring all day meeting in my day job and naturally had to use a cool Latin blues rhythms
I wrote the lyrics and music for this song visualizing a life of turmoil and redemption which eventually (sadly) became true for me some 15 years later in my personal life....premonition?
I wrote this song remembering a childhood girl who liked me and I was too shy to pursue a friendship...reflecting on what could have been
I wrote this song as a spinoff from Mambo Inn reflecting on life in Cuba before the revolution and also inspired by the Buena Vista Social Club documentary
